Introduction to the Gospel According to John.

In September, we will begin a new series on The Gospel According to John. I look forward to studying this Gospel with you in greater detail. John, the youngest of Jesus’ apostles and the one identified as the apostle whom Jesus loved, wrote so that all who read might know Jesus Christ and experience His love personally.

John’s purpose is stated clearly in John 20:30–31: “Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.”

Throughout this Gospel, we will see Jesus Christ as the eternal Word made flesh. He is God revealed to us, and John gives careful testimony from his own experience with the Lord Jesus, along with the witness of others who encountered Him during His earthly ministry.

John includes times, places, and details that reveal the perspective of a true eyewitness. He records the miracles of Jesus, His compassion at the death of Lazarus, His washing of the apostles’ feet, Peter’s actions at Jesus’ arrest, and the meaningful interaction between Jesus and Nicodemus. As we study this Gospel together, we will be drawn more deeply into the truth of who Christ is and what He has done.

Join us on Sundays at 10:30 at Twin Oaks Bible Church as we study the Gospel According to John and seek the truth found in Jesus Christ. My prayer is that the Spirit will open our hearts and minds, deepen our understanding of Christ, and strengthen our personal relationship with Him.
